Tom Smyth

Secondary Care

Hello! I am Thomas Smyth a Physician Associate in Salford Royal Trauma and Orthopaedic department.

I am excited and dedicated to becoming an Ambassador you can rely on and bring forward your views and ideas and help action them.

A little history about myself. I originally completed a degree in Sport Rehabilitation in 2015 before starting my journey in this new and evolving Physician Associate profession.
I was part of the first cohort in the North West scheme for developing the Physician Associate role and graduated from the University of Manchester in January 2018.

Since then, I have been in continuous employment working in Salford Royal Hospital. Myself and my supervisors Mr. Henry and Mr. Shah have been keen to employ and expand the Physician Associate role in our department due to the successes it has had.

I hope to bring forward the enthusiasm I have in my own work place and help develop the role across all sectors in Acute, Primary and Secondary care in the North West.

My main aims whilst embarking on this Physician Associate Ambassador role is helping achieve a sustainable role, in the above sectors, as well as increasing the levels of progression and retention.

Outside of the working environment, I love to partake in sporting activities, health and wellbeing and the occasional hike up the highest mountain I can find.

I look forward to representing you and being a part of this team of Ambassadors to help pioneer our future here in the North West!
